Hybrid Electric Wood Fired Hot Tub/Pool Heating System
Wood fired hot tub heaters are a great way to save money but what about in the wintertime? This is perhaps the best time to use a hot tub. Nothing Beats the Chill better than a hot tub! When temperatures plummet, a hot tub offers a luxurious escape. The warm, soothing waters provide instant relief from the cold, making it the perfect antidote to winter's bite.
But operating a wood fired hot tub in the winter can be a challenge; hoses are often frozen which can make it difficult to fill and drain. Unlike the summer months the water must be drained shortly after the use to prevent freezing adding to extra work of hot tubbing in the winter.
Solution – Add an independent filter system to your tub to work with the Wood Fired Hot Tub Stove.
This system has a few primary benefits.
- The constant circulation of the water through the filter results in sparkling clean water. So whether its winter or summer your water will remain clear and you will not have to drain it for weeks or months.
- Mixing the water – the circulation system gentally mixes the water so that layering of hot water and cold water is removed, this constant temperature is great as your floating thermometer will read the true water temperature letting you know when the tub is ready. No need for that canoe paddle!
- In the winter the filter and movement of the water prevents the water from freezing in moderate climates. Moving the water will allow you to keep the water in the tub even when freezing conditions occur. However, when the whether gets “arctic” cold you will need more than just circulating water. You will need a back up heater or HYBRID Hot Tub.
Hybrid Hot Tub
A Hybrid wood fired hot tub use both an electric heater and wood fired heater and is the best of both worlds. You can save $$ on heating cost by primarily using wood as the main energy source but you can have the option of turning on the electric heater during the winter to prevent freezing of the tub in almost any condition. Simply shut off the water supply to the wood stove heater by inserting port plugs or closing the gate valves. Then drain the wood fired heater so it has no water internally to freeze. Now with the optional upgrade of an electric heater to the independent circulation system, you can set the temperature low enough to avoid freezing of the tub. When you want to use your tub, you can remove the plugs that isolate the wood heater and start a fire in the fire box, or you can simply turn up the temperature of the electric spa pack to heat the water to your desired temperature. With the Wi-Fi upgrade you can even do this before you get to your cottage or home, so the tub is ready waiting for you.
A Hybrid hot tub will also keep the water sparkling clean and ensure the temperature is evenly mixed making the care and operation of your wood fired hot tub a simple joy. So if you want to maximize the use of your hot tub 365 days a year consider adding the independent circulation system with the optional electric spa pack.
